Block Shorts & Reels (the "app") respects your privacy. This policy explains what information the app handles and how. In short, the app does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information that identifies you. Everything needed to block short-form video screens is processed in real time, entirely on your device.
The app uses the Android Accessibility Service to detect short-form video screens such as YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, TikTok, Naver Clip, and KakaoTalk short-form feeds. To do this, it reads which app is currently on screen and the screen's UI structure.
The "block entire app" feature blocks apps you choose yourself. To show you candidates on the selection screen, the app reads the names and icons of installed apps that have a launcher icon on your home screen.
QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES permission. Instead of querying every installed app, it narrows the query to apps with a launcher icon — the minimum needed.Settings such as per-platform and per-app blocking on/off, your chosen block list, today's block count, and the "allow for 5 minutes" expiry time are stored only in your device's local storage and are never transmitted. They are deleted when you uninstall the app.
The app shows Google AdMob rewarded ads for features such as the "allow for 5 minutes" unlock. To serve ads, Google and its partners may collect and process data such as your advertising ID, IP address, and device/usage information, in accordance with Google's policies.
The app developer does not separately collect any personal information through advertising.
The app has no sign-up or login, and never asks for personal information such as your name, email address, or phone number.
| Permission | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Accessibility Service | Detect short-form video screens and show the blocking screen |
| Display over other apps | Show the blocking screen (overlay) |
| Run at device boot | Keep blocking active after a reboot |
| Internet / network state | Load ads |
These permissions are not requested by the app itself, but are included in the installation package when the ad SDK is bundled.
| Permission | Purpose |
|---|---|
Advertising ID (ACCESS_ADSERVICES_AD_ID) | Ad serving and frequency capping |

Data processed under these permissions is governed by the "Advertising (Google AdMob)" section above and Google's policies.
| Permission | Note |
|---|---|
Query all installed apps (QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES) | Not used. The app-selection list for whole-app blocking only queries the scope declared in the manifest <queries> element (apps with a launcher icon). |
The app is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
The app developer does not sell or provide your personal information to third parties. Data processing related to ad serving is governed by the Google AdMob section above.
Because the app does not collect or store personal information on any server, there is no server-side data to access, correct, or delete — all app data lives on your device and is removed when you uninstall the app. You can reset your advertising ID or opt out of ad personalization at any time in your device's Android settings (Settings → Google → Ads). This policy may be revised when necessary. Changes will be announced through the app or on this page.
